My personal perspective on streamer orgs, collabs etc

Last Sunday group of big streamers, mostly from World of Warcraft scene, announced the creation of their organization called One True King, OTK. I’m really far from WoW tbh, but watch Asmongold a lot recently, so I caught the announcement and it was great, org itself seems really interesting and with a lot of potential, many ideas and some things already in motion, I hope they will succeed with all their plans and even if with part, that will already be some quality content and positive influence for the scene.

But for me it also had some “side effects”, it got me really inspired in a way and made me think about stuff like this – organizations, collaborations between streamers, streamer houses and all that jazz. So there will be a lot of thinkening in this post…

So first of all I have to say that I’m super envious of all the OTK guys that they have friends that have same interests and work in the same field AND which is very important live near. My background motive emotion while watching all the announcement and talks was sadness that we lost all IRL events this year. I think meeting with other streamers is a huge motivational and inspirational factor, it’s something that is hard to replace with online interactions, so I’m really sad there’s no opportunity for me to meet with our bois and other people. Having someone who has same passions and interests, working on same platform and living in same city or at least country sounds amazing. But to actually collab and organize something it’s not enough to just know each other and live close, you really need to be passionate about same things or about something you could combine into one project.

Unfortunately, due to me living in this beautiful country, I can pretty much forget about moving anywhere long term, so all streamer house ideas are basically dreams, but man those are some beautiful dreams. Even if you don’t share exact passions and interests, it’s still a good motivating factor to work more and opportunities to do thing together and push each other to do better, do more. So it’s like not always organization out of streamer house, because people might be quite different and it’s not needed to live that close to each other for organization to work, but man it probably helps a lot to be able to just discuss things IRL in person.

Being a part of some org would be interesting experience for me and I am sure always open about working on something like this, obviously need to know more about it – I had my fair share of situations when you need to carry things on your own way too much or when I was just losing interest myself, it should be very well-weighted decision. I am a bit of a lonely wolf though normally, that’s why being close for project like this is kinda decisive, otherwise I need to be really interested and need to know people very well to get into some org, but being close to people you work with IRL would alleviate some of that.

Streamer house would be great, I had one amazing experience back in a day, when we lived with two of my friends in rent apartment, in very spartan environment where I was sleeping on air bed that had a hole with a bunch of duct tape and that started breaking more and more later, so I ended up on the floor and my friends were sharing one couch-bed. Work was on laptops basically sitting where we slept, but man it was like most productive time of my life, since we were working together on same projects and sitting right there in one room. Despite all the hobo life and all that, we all are still very nostalgic about those times and I seriously consider it my best memory from the past. So streamer house or some other “co-op” living with people who work in the same field and share at least some interests would be great for me, IRL social aspect brings the best out of me and motivates me a lot more to work harder and to be less lazy. All that means that I’m open to suggestions and ideas like this, but yeah, here is extra issue with me being a citizen of Russia, so traveling for me is quite a clown fiesta already and long term things are even harder. Then there’s also my own apartment that kinda is “weighing me down” in terms of freedom, but I’d solve that issue one way or another if there would be a really good option.

Collabs now connect to both things mentioned before, with people I work together and/or people I live close for sure, but here’s the thing – it’s all about the semantics. For some people collabs mean playing some Among Us or Mario Party together and that as some of you already know is not something I enjoy doing, like I’m not into social/party/whatever-similar kind of gaming, even IRL with people I know. Sure I’m down for some co-op if it’s a game I’m interested in, sure I’m down to watch some announcements with bois, but yeah even then it’s friends I know well only. Being together IRL would bring more opportunities for collabs that would be interesting for me, like podcasts, cooking shows, just going somewhere together with a stream on etc.

Overall I’m happy to see when people have organizations like this set or moving to streamer houses and stuff like this, but feel sad that it’s very hard for me to participate in similar things. Would be nice though, so I’m always opened to ideas and suggestions, but there are many factors that might be complicated to work with. Interested in co-op and this kind of stuff too, as long as it’s not some kind of party games etc, not being asocial or something, just very picky and prefer keeping stream more personal experience doing my own stuff. Dream would be a streamer house where we could arrange a little gym, proper kitchen studio for cooking streams, do some tabletop streams, podcasts and all the cool things, but that’s only a dream in near future unfortunately.
