Free weekend and sale are over, but couldn’t really write before to make it in time, so that will be more for next sale, which will probably be relatively soon, since Endless games are on sale a lot usually. Full “review” in full version of this post.
Let’s go with order i used while playing, so first Endless Legend: didn’t play it a lot, because it felt really Civ-ish and i played a lot of WH40k Gladius recently, so i guess i’m still “full” with similar format of 4X games. But i can say that game has really good art, all factions are well-designed and have some sort of “personality” to them + apparently are more unique compared to each other than Civ civilizations. Gameplaywise felt pretty much like Civ, but with deeper combat system and some interesting “city-state” mechanics, quests etc. Hard to judge with such a low amount of time played, but totally looks promising and when i will be in 4X mood that might be my game of choice (i’ll probably encounter more 4X games though, so maybe something else will take priority spot – no promises)
Endless dungeon is a neat smol roguelike that totally has pretty interesting and original concept, was fun playing it, but probably not something i would stream. Can recommend to roguelike fans though, looks like even finishing it might be pretty challenging with perma-death and 10 floors that you need to complete, when even first floor is pretty challenging for a noob after some tries and learning some things.
Endless Space 2 – that’s the main game of this post, played it more than other games while totally being into it, but wasn’t hard to stop and switch to other promised games, because it was my first attempt and pretty LIDL one too. Next day (yesterday, aka Sunday) i wasn’t even planning to play it, had other plans, but viewers suggested me to play it and i was like “ok, let’s give it a go for some time before i switch to games i had planned”. Big mistake – played it for ~8 hours and forced myself to switch 1 hour before the end of the stream (13 hour stream too), just so i play at least one planned game, especially since i put planned games in my title. I think the fact that it’s space 4X strategy and that genre is completely new for me, i just went ham, kinda what happened when i started with Gladius, but i think even stronger. Can totally recommend, can’t really compare to any other space 4X since i never played any, would be nice to compare it with Stellaris for example, which is a main “competitor” in this genre, but well Stellaris will be my number two now i guess (when i’ll play it eventually, at least want to get bunch of DLCs on sale for it), ES took my space innocence.
So overall pretty good games, prices are amazing too, especially on sale (and better wait for it, they have sales pretty frequently and games have a lot of DLCs, so better get bundles), so Endless Space 2 i can recommend for sure if you are into this kind of games, don’t have enough personal experience with others for personal recommendation, but looks good and people said lots of good words about all of them, so should be good stuff.
